My name is Tanja M. Laden. The “j” is pronounced like a “y.”
I have decades of experience writing things for others.
I have scattered my byline across places like Vice, Playboy, Food & Wine, Los Angeles Times, Juxtapoz, TravelAge West, Backstage, LA Weekly, KCET, and many more. I’ve also created sponsored content for brands such as Samsung, Microsoft, Sony, Disney, SyFy, Espolon Tequila, and Beck’s Brewery, among many others. Somewhere between writing about my visits to dozens of countries and digging through the archives of High Times, I wrote a commemorative book called Assistance League of Los Angeles: The First 100 Years.
I’ve worked as a receptionist, a production assistant, a researcher, a subtitle editor, a video editor, a social media manager, a reality TV casting producer, an arts and culture journalist, a travel writer, a background actor, a dog walker, a skip tracer, and a handler. Throughout all of it, I have remained a storyteller. Here’s where I hope these stories come alive, in this one-woman literary magazine grown out of Los Angeles consisting of current adventures, orphaned travel stories, rescued articles, poetry/fiction fragments, and 1990s tragicomedic diaries.
